DOES CELEBRITY'S VISITS TO SOUTH AFRICA BENEFIT OUR SOCIETIES?

music celebrities believe in travelling to different places to inform, educate and persuade their target audiences to purchase their music. At the end of the day as people we do support our stars out of our pure hearts, but are they doing enough after their big concerts to try to change someone's life who can not do anything for themselves?

As I am publishing my post, South African citizens from north to south and from east to west are waiting to be blown away by a star from the Unites States with his music from six o'clock pm at Santon Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa. The tickets fee was from R900.00 to R1750.00 read more.
Like any other celebrity, John Legend also reached a goal to visit South Africa. This well-known celebrity will create a lot of publicity as he already did about his coming to our country. The question is will he move from one point to another and if the answer is yes what will the entire country benefit from this event?
Books(www.politicsweb.co.za)
Corporate Social Investment (CSI) believes in that organisations do something for someone without an intension of receiving something from that somebody. Celebrities are honoured and paid a lot of money for their performances; however, my heart is still stacked with, how do we “as a country" celebrate other things that will not really help us while Limpopo pupils are suffering and learning without books?

The event will rock our world and it is good to have fun and to be exposed to other things, that I agree, but why can't we just at least as good citizens adopt one school at Limpopo and buy them books while the government is trying to resolve this matter. In doing that we will be helping the pupils who are in matric to at least have proper material to prepare for their exams, then entertainments.

  2. The music industris in not about giving back to the community, this artist are here for business. Not usual to se celbrities investing in our communities, is only a few of them and they do not even spend that much if they do.

    1. The are here for entertainment that I agree but we need to consider to help those who can not help themselves.

  3. Yes I think that it is time for our artists to realise that they need to star giving back to the community and stop just taking money from our country, but as for to the Limpopo scandal the government is to blame for that issues and it must find a way of dealing with it.

  9. John Legend was here to entertain, and to make him self more popular and we love his music.do more of your research and find out if he realy is a gold digger or a decent person who just want to support his family. The Limpopo issue about books, the govenment must take the initiative, because it is their responsebility not celebrities.Celebrities can do what they affort to do.

    1. there is... may be some where in the content where it state that John Legent should do something about Limpopo books crisis or that he is a "gold Digger"...clearly you did no get the point clear. The whole content is actually pointing out(people living a better o good life versus thoe who are living a poor life or sufferin to get a beeter life)...BUT FROM MY POINT OF VIEW TOGETHER WE CAN AS A NATION.

  11. Sometimes celebrities, they have to make a plan in order to get publicty or make brand awareness... it is not their fault that we south africans fall for their persuastion skills... and i guess if we made them a certain policy that evry party should benefit, ithink it was going to be better... for example agree that john legend can come and sell his music but only on one condition, giving 5% to the limpopo crises

  12. Concert are two way process, firstly they raise money for artist and secondly give publicity to the artist in a way of entertainment, socialism.

    1. But I think they should be a three way process...the celebs should keep in mind their supporter because wihtout supporters there will be no concert.

  13. I think that it is a vital point that you are making, yes there must be good times but on a PR point of view, other nations will think that South Africa does not care enough about it's citizens and I'm asking myself who was the organiser. I mean we are facing a crisis as a country but not much attention is given than to concerts or recreation.

    1. That my point...other countries will think that the government just want their people to suffer because they ahve money for entertainments.

  14. Well for me these people are only looking to benefit themselves and after all it's all about making money for these celebrities. International stars only support their countries in terms of giving back and changing someones life. Only a few are giving back to their supporters.

  16. Well, international celeb visits does not benefits us, but we losing financial resources to those who are already rich. They come here having one objective in mind, to make money and get international exposure.

  17. I have to say celebrities come here to just do what they do best and that peform get paid and be on the next flight to wherever but some do give back especially american artists seem to donate to those who are very destitude like people in countries such as Congo,Somalia and others.

  18. I think they are the only ones that benefit and thats what matters to them, making money. They do not care about giving back to the community.

    1. I think when big gigs take place we must all benefit.

  19. John Legend was here for entertainment and we can't blame him for attracting people to come to his gig. We all have our own ways of celebrating and On what to spend money on. I agree with you when you say it could have been better if we had taken that money and bought books for Limpopo pupils.

  20. We all must know by now that celebrities especiall those from oversees come here to promote their own music and fame. i also think we would be not fair if we would want people like John Legend to take some kind of responsibility to the limpopo issue as he is not even a south african...the people who caused this must fix it...if celebrities want to help, let them volunteer and not force them...

    1. This celebrities should learn to give and appreciate. Not long ago Usher visited our country and he visited most of our townships which was a good thint to do...and am sure that he has generated himself many fans from townships by just visiting them.

  21. All celebrities from overseas come to South Africa firstly to promote their own brands. Other things come second and third. International celebrities are loved very much and so when they come here, they'd be coming to entertain us.

    1. which is unfair if we fail to love our loal artists. We should firstly support our homies then others should come second and third.

  22. It benefits the entertainment industry for international artists to visit South Africa, as much as it would benefit the politics for Jacob Zuma to wine and dine with international presidents.

    ReplyDelete

    1. What about us who are at the lower levels such as Limpopo pupils.During voting times there will be no dining with celebs but recrutments to the same parents of the pupils whom suffered in 2012.

  23. I think it would create a very good image for Celebrities to do charity work, but it is also up to us the (Citizens) to make a difference in our communities.

  24. I personally think, its not benefitting us (citizens),its benefitting the Celebrities...I think government should tax them when celebrities come to do shows in South Africa.
